Informational copies are readily available, but certified copies are restricted for 25 years for death certificates and 75 years for birth certificates. This large county of over 2,000,000 was formed in 1846 from Nacogdoches and Robertson Counties; formerly populated by the Caddoan Native Americans, Anglo-Americans started settling here in 1840.
